While looking for a job recently I stumbled upon an ad for a speed dating host position. I applied and spoke with the founder, after hearing about how the events are run I thought it was something I can do myself. I am looking for advice from people who have done this before.
Here is the business: http://www.dateswitch.com/speeddating/index.html
Here is their business model: They host on average 3-4 separate events in each city per month, there are 18 males and 18 females for a total of 36 people, it costs $35 before the event and $45 at the door, let's say 30 people sign up early and 6 pay at the door, that's $1,320. The bar is the one hosting the event so they don't have to pay for the event space. They hire an outside person to be the event host/hostess and pay them $70, they spend $70 on supplies such as name tags and signs. So after taxes they gross $838.81 per event, so 3 events net a profit of around $2,516!
DateSwitch.com is hosting a speed dating event at Rasputin Vodka Bar this Saturday, February 2nd at 6:30pm. The event is for single men and women ages 32-49. The event cost $35 and you can register at Dateswitch.com. We have more women signed up than men right now so it should be a great event.
During the mini-dates, you will have 5 minutes with each member of the opposite sex and secretly circle Yes or No on your date card. After the event, you go home and sign in at Dateswitch.com, make your choices and if two people both say yes, you will receive each others email addresses. This creates a fun, low-pressure environment. If there is nobody you want to say Yes to, just put all No's and we will give you a free pass to come out to our next event!
We also have these officially scheduled with many more in the planning stages:
February 16th: 23-39 age group
March 9th: 35-55 age group
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]
. We will sell out for either male or female at some point to ensure that the numbers are even for the event so make sure you sign up ASAP to reserve your spot.
I hope to see you guys there!
